Lightweight Sharpies, derived from the 12 Square Metre Sharpie
and designed in Australia, possess a lightweight body, aluminium
spars and synthetic sails. They are about 6 metres in length,
have a beam of 1.47 metres and weigh 86.4 kilograms. These yachts
have a crew of 3 and their weight alone keeps these boats upright

12 Metre Yachts are about 20 metres in length and have a beam of
about 3.8 metres. These yachts, with a crew of eleven, are
designed primarily for close match-racing around a triangular
course of about 30 nautical miles. The most well-known race for
12 Metre Yachts is the famous America's Cup.

Sabot
Yacht - 60c
Sabots were designed in America in the 1930's and were introduced
to Australia in 1945. Their name is derived from a French word
meaning clog or wooden shoe. These yachts are mainly used for
training children to sail. Being only 2.44 metres long with a
beam of 1.16 metres, they are one of the smallest racing yachts
