Sir Charles Kinsford Smith is Australia's most famous airman. He
flew in the first crossing of the Pacific in 1928 in his famous
Southern Cross. Smith flew the 4th leg of the airmail flight in
1931 from Darwin, Australia to Burma. Smith was killed in 1935 on
