Bankstown Airport

Australia's busiest airport in terms of annual aircraft movements, is situated 22 kilometres south-west of Sydney's central business district and 5 kilometres west of Bankstown city centre.

First mooted in 1929, Bankstown Airport was built in 1940.

Now recognised as the centre of the general aviation industry in Australia, in the late 1940s Bankstown Airport was under consideration for development as Sydney's major airport.

It is now used for private flying, fixed and rotary wing flying training, aerial work, air charter and the sale, repair and maintenance of aircraft and includes 28 training schools, aircraft sales and historic and warbird aircraft restoration.
